Catalogue
all your disks (cds, floppys, dvd, zip, mo...) and then find down
any file at once. This program stores all the information of the
folders and files of your PC discs in order to be able to consult
it without having the disk inside the PC. Besides, it allows the user to catalogue music
CD-Audio discs (manually or automatically with Internet).
The
information stored from your files and folders is all the information
useful to store in this kind of programs. Name, size, last modification
date, creation date, attributes and the list of nested files that
it may have... In addition, the most important data from many multimedia files will be
extracted.
Naturally,
the cataloguing is automatic: insert the disk in the reader, indicate
it to the program together with the desired name for the new disk
and press the button. The disk will be catalogued in a few seconds.
If
you wish to see the aspect of the cataloguing screen, press here.
You
can also create catalogues from a particular folder, and from
all its sub-folders. Finally,
and regarding the creation of catalogues, we must point up the
"Re-catalogue" option, intended for RW discs, which allows us to actualise the modifications needed in
the catalogue without missing the descriptions we may have made.
Besides
the files and folders that you find in your disk, the program
can scan the files compressed inside others (ZIP, RAR,
CAB, ACE,
JAR, ARJ, LZH, LHA, ARC, ZOO,
PAK, TAR, GZIP, SQX) up to a total of
fourteen different formats (practically all of common use).
Including
the self-extracted of many of them!.
The
files with nested files inside will appear in bold and their content
can be seen with a simple double click. They are even marked with
a special attribute. If
you wish to see the aspect of the list nested files screen, press here.
It
allows also to decompress all these formats. Finding out compressed
files from wich we havenīt got a decompressor will never again
be a problem!. If
you wish to see the aspect of the extract files screen, press
here.
Another
great option of the program is that it can catalogue some inner data of the most important multimedia formats.
To be precise, five types of file formats are supported: Documents
(PDF, DOC, DOT), Bitmap Image (BMP, DIB, RLE, PCX,
GIF, JPEG, JPEG2000, TIF, TGA, PNG), Audio (WAV, AC3), Music
(MP3, WMA, OGG) and Video files (AVI, WMV,
ASF, MPG, HAV, FLI/FLC). Besides, the program provides its own routines to process these files, depending not on other
software (exception for WMV y ASF formats).
The stored data
is:
Document
files:
Number of pages, Subject, Title and Author.
BitMap
image Files: Resolution (height x width) in pixels and
Colour depth.
Audio Files: Length, Sampling frequency, Sample
size, Number of audio channels and type of format.
Music Files: Length, Frequency, Quality,
Number of audio channels, Year, Track, Genre, Author,
Work and Title.
Video Files: Length, Resolution, Number
of audio channels, Codec and Quality.
Note: not every variant of every format are supported by the
program.
Click
here to see a screen showing these data.
Use
the five types of textual searching to find programs or files.
From the classical searching of ordinary text (exact), to the
approximate (with mistakes) sophisticated searchings, including,
of course, three types of searchings with wildcards (similar to the operator
LIKE of SQL): wildcards, superwilcards and Perl5 RegExp.
The
program will search even among the names of colection and
catalogue, authors and Subjects/Genre.
And also, of course, it will search into the descriptions
of file/folder. Likewise it has functions to search every catalogued multimedia data.
There
are three modes for the search screen: easy mode, advanced or
multimedia mode.
If
you wish to see the screen for easy search press here.
Finally,
if you wish to view the screen with all the available searching
options, click here.
In
addition to textual searching, the files can be looked for:
-
By any combination of attributes.
- By the date of the last modification (initial, final or both).
- By the date of the creation (initial, final or both).
- By the size of the file (minimum, maximum or both).
Other
important options of the searching are:
-
It may look for in names of files or folders or only files.
- It may limit the searching to a type of file (extension).
- It may exclude the nested files from the searching.
- It may limit the searching to a single catalogue.
- It may limit the searching to a single collection.

It
uses all the graphic resources of Windows to be handy (grids,
buttons, tabs...) and other standard actions of the keyboard and
the mouse: F2 to modify, Del to remove, Enter to accept, double
click to open... Very intuitive. The
navigation screen among catalogues is very similar to the Windows
Explorer in the detail view.
You
also have a complete help file, in 32 bits HLP format, it will
help you to become familiar with the most advanced options. Every screen available have a button to take you to the corresponding
chapter of the Help file.
The
program enables the user to add a small description (sentence)
to each catalogued file (or folder), to be able to describe its
content if its name wasnīt explicit enough. Obviously, every textual
searching options will also be applied to the description.
Collections
are tools to arrange the catalogues as you please. Actually, they are folders from the hard disk where you can
store the catalogues. It
has functions like cut and paste to move catalogues or collections,
you can also create new collections or erase them. The amount
or levelīs space of the collections is not limited in any way.
In
the program grids where files are shown (the catalogue and the
searching ones) there are buttons to open files. In particular
there are five options:
- Opening from the NotePad.
- Opening with
the standard program in the system.
-
Enqueue in
WinAmp playlist.
-
"Open
with..." dialogue, for seleccting the program to execute
the file.
- Open Windows Explorer in the file folder.
The
best aspect of this option is the fact that if the file is available,
in any of the letters of the computerīs unit, it will be opened
directly, no matter if it is or not the unit from which it has
catalogued. If the file is not inside the computer, as it was in a removable
disk, you will be asked to insert the disk in any unit, after
this you will be able to repeat the process in a successful way.
The
program includes other useful functions or characteristics, as
for example:
-
It is not allowed to catalogue one same disk twice.
- Small. It consumes a bit more than 8 MB of hard disk.
- Hardly needs installation. It copies only
few files in their own folder.
- Uninstallation full and automatic.
- Safe. It doesnīt modify any aspect of your Windows system.
- Versatile. Catalogue files are compact and independent for each
disk.
- Reliable. Exceptions treatment: the program recovers from many
errors.
- Compatible with all Windows of 32 bits: 95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000
and XP.
- The program has built-in multimedia & compressed files
routines, depending not on any other software.
